Unnecessary controversy

There is a raging debate going on over Vande Mataram and some unscrupulous elements in our society are taking the full advantage to demean Jana Gana Mana. I suppose people of India has no work. I suppose I also have no work if I go on pondering and making comments over this. but I couldnt resist, because I am concerned. if such non issues ferment no much hatred what will real issues do? The issue has now taken its ugly shape in some of the rable rousers questioning the patriotism of Tagore and some other questioning the patriotism of other communities because apparently some Muslim religious leaders view Vande Mataram as anti Islam. Course its the same oppurtunism reigning supreme with every Indian political and religious leader. And the same is true of the people who are either half literates or illiterates to either blindly follow them or launch a scathing attack other religious communities and blindly defend the National song, even at the expense of National Anthem. Politicians and religious leaders (from every community - a Bukhari and a Shankaracharya are no different- they are all carnivores and thrive on fleshes of innocents). We are playing into the hands of marauding politicians nicely, we as a nation. At a time when we should have unitedly asked for more developments, better opportunities, better infrastructure and less corruption, we are getting yet anothe raw deal in the form of a controversy that is again tearing apart along the communal lines an already beleaguered nation. Certainly there are patriotic Muslims and non patriotic muslims. There are people in India amongst Hindus and Muslims alike who would sell their nation for a good price, there are Islamic fundamentalists who would rather tow the line of Bin Laden and wreck havoc than be a good son of soil, but that doesnt mean every Muslim is unpatriotic or anybody who refuses to sing Vande Mataram is a traitor. Its a free country and anybody is free to do anything as long as its not harming national interest or any fellow citizen. At the sametime, issuing Fatwahs to prevent people from singing is equally unacceptable as again u are hindering the same freedom. Vande Mataram is a national song, if anybody wants to sing it with respect, let him do it, if anybody doesnt want to sing a few lines of it because of some individual belief but instead wants to pay respect to the nation with some other song, let him do it, whats the problem. We could have done without that and certainly Indian media is to take the blame for giving this so much space for the sake of cheap publicity.
