Attack on the Hindus in Bangladesh and the lack of courage of the Hindus

 The Hindu community in this subcontinent is either extremely apathetic towards its own religion or is extremely selfish to protect its members. For centuries now they have resigned themselves to their fate, being meekly submissive to their rulers or being direct collaborators to them, in the process remaining as second class citizens known as Dhimmis under Islamic rule. The orthodox Islamic hardliners view Hindus as impotent, devoid of any courage to even protect their own religion, and view Hindu girls and Hindu properties as their own that need usurption, forcefully, under state patronage. Of course not all Muslims share these views, but the hardliners are too powerful. A handful of them control the religion and the politics. Good Muslims remain quiet and submissive. On the other side, there is some truth in the assertion that Hindus as a community are divisive and cowards (much like the erstwhile Jews who were hated in Europe). Hindus, like Jews, have suffered multiple genocides between 1947 and 1971, but have denied them staunchly. Those Hindus, who escaped the suffering and consequences of their fellow brothers have either been largely silent or have become secular leftists, who openly denied that such a disaster had ever befallen them and claimed that they or their ancestors left East Bengal under their own free will. The Hindu media and politicians are no better. Whenever their is an attack on the Hindus, the fault lies with the Hindus. Inevitably there will be some cooked up stories of desecration of holy scriptures as the main reason. Hindu minorities will continue to live under fear and the belligerent "friendly neighbourhood" countries will demand a better protection for the Muslim population in India, instead of punishing the perpetrators of attacks on Hindus and other minorities. The hardliners gain political patronage and assylum. The mainstream paid media will never utter any word against the hardliners and the Hindus themselves will issue shameful statements like if it is not wanted by the Muslims, Hindus will stop Durga Puja in Bangladesh. The elites and the so called progressive intellectuals will pay only lip service or no heed to the sufferings of the Hindus. Else they will lose their elite and progressive liberal status and tags. No political party will come out in open support of the Hindus, it does not pay politically (no, not even the so called rightists like BJP, they are a notch better than Congress because they do not take any open anti Hindu stance or support the fanatics and do not take a public anti Nationalist stance - that's the only difference).

So what is wrong? On the one hand we have these so called right wing politics and politicians, the extreme right wing activists like VHP and Bajrang Dal who will let you believe that they are protecting the interest of the Hindus. In reality they will never fight the Islamic hardliners, they are hand in gloves with them. They will instead seek vengeance on innocent men and women among Muslims, thereby giving more ammunition in the hands of the Islamic hardliners and their collaborators among politicians and the media.  On the other hand we have the whole "secular" political cabal and media to whom Hindus are the primary evil forces. And we have the Hindu community who are so devoid of courage and potency, that they cannot even unite and fight for their own religion. An influential section of them are driven by their own business and other selfish interests and will not go against it. The Hindus will rather forsake their own religion than their lives. Centuries of sectarian infighting have driven them to rather gleefully enjoy the predicament of the opposite sects in the hands of the Muslims. The individuals have found it better to embrace Islam than fight collectively for their religion. In this way in Bangladesh Islam has gained considerable strength. Every Hindu who joined Islam, as rightly predicted by Swami Vivekananda, had become another enemy of Hinduism. The existence of Hindus is long threatened in Bangladesh, yet the Hindu community there lives a Dhimmi way of life, trying to placate their communal masters and serve them whole heartedly, hoping that they will get protection from hardliners. Maulana Mohammed Ali, Gandhi's great friend said that even a lowly Muslim was far better than a so called pious Hindu (incidentally Mahatma supported the statement), because a lowly Muslim would fight tooth and nail for the sake of protecting his religion, while a so called pious Hindu would adopt an "apatkalin dharma", i.e. very selfishly protect his own life and belongings and would not hesitate to flee. Muslims have proved time and again that apart from a few good men and leaders who sacrificed their lives, Hindus are mostly cowards, who will flee seeing the first instance of trouble. Hindu youths largely took up arms against the British while the ordinary Muslims (barring a few ardent Nationalists) looked the other way round or tried to protect their own community interests. But once the Hindu youths lost that vigour, they could not stand up against the Islamic hardliners. Gandhij's pacifism also crippled them. Also anybody attacking Islamic hardliners would be subjected to terrible onslaught by the politicians and the media. Hindu state will not protect them (yes, not even the so called rightists). They will be left to be fed to the carnivores. An in an Islamic state the price that they will have to pay is anybody's guess. Their lives are not worth even a cent. What options do they have? There is none. The incidents of Bangladesh have shown once again that in an Islamic state Hindu lives do not count. Hindus elsewhere, sadly, will not learn the lesson. They will remain self centred and selfish until.. the fire of hatred burns them.
