End of Path for Leftism

One man of superior intelligence, military and spiritual genius with incredible foresight and intense love for his country, had predicted in the 60s that India will be rocked by frequent battles between leftists and nationalists. It is to be remembered that BJP was non existent in the 60s. Congress was then a nationalist party but it was leftist as well. There was no issue or contention between Congress and left except for state level battles. Also leftist elites enjoyed the patronage of Congress so there was no award wapsi or intolerance brigade back then. The media was largely pliant except Indian Express during the Bofors days. There were no ideological skirmishes. The real battle between leftists and nationalists began after 2016, when the surgical strikes, Balakot airstrikes and a plethora of issues pertaining to Indian national interest vs. narrow communal interest assumed significant proportion of media and elite leftist attention. The students organizations so far dominated by the left found a match when ABVP emerged from no where to wrest control in many reputed universities or to become the top contenders, displacing the NSUI or the erstwhile chhatro parishod of the Congress. So left-nationalist battles assumed epic proportion. So much so, that elites and leftists began distancing themselves and all the icons from the Nationalist issues. One popular thread which I have discussed in my earlier blog was a sensational claim by the leftist ecosystem that Rabindranath Tagore was an anti Nationalist. This is now believed by many leftist students and younger members who clearly have not read Rabindranath, his life and works. This battle has peaked recently with the declaration of the CAA and the intention to do a nationwide NRC. The leftists have waged jihad, violent protests have rocked the country. Taking a queue from Khilafat movement CAA has become an anti Muslim bill and even foreign media is dubbing it so. So leftists and the so called self proclaimed representatives of the Muslim communities which include the Bollywood icons like popular lyricists and their clans, young actors, failed actors, B grade movie makers and self proclaimed intellectuals, have all joined the bandwagon. Some of these icons have are spreading distorted information and their perceptions of what is going to happen in future and thus have taken the responsibility of mobilizing support. The community members are getting angry because they think they are discriminated against and they are reacting violently. None of them will ever read the actual bill or think clearly. The ecosystem knows this. The intellectuals and media and politicians have all joined hands to incite people. Many of them (e.g Farhan Akhtar) have posted incorrect facts in the social media – like showing Kashmir to be part of Pakistan and providing half baked information on the bill far removed from the actual facts. They want a share of the voice, hog the media limelight and fight tooth and nail on the social and mainstream media. Students from the universities, led by the ones from the minority institutions like JMI, AMU etc. and joined by institutes across the country have leaped into the bandwagon. Leftist intellectuals and actors, authors and anybody whose names have ever appeared on the print, have lent their support to the cause. It would appear that anybody who is not lending support or voicing a different opinion is branded as Nazi, Fascist, Sanghi and Islamophobe. So many students have thought it rather cool to join the ongoing protest because not doing so would make them appear as belonging to one of the above categories. Others, hearing the often distorted and fabricated stories, without bothering to read the fine prints themselves are joining the bandwagon. Others are joining on account of herd mentality. Still others are joining because they think they have to take a stand, that they are genuinely and rightfully protesting for a cause, after reading all the media reports and the seeing intensity of the protests. I know this myself because I belonged to one of the later categories when I had protested against the Ahmedabad riots in 2002 when I was a student in IIMA. I was simply taking a stand after reading all the media coverage, did not think through whether they were true or unbiased. I thought I had taken a stand and I had contempt for those who did not take that stand or stood neutral. So it is quite natural that the 18 year old daughter of Saurav Ganguly would think that India is coming to an end and her embarrassed father would think that she is too young to understand politics. The joke is on those intellectuals like Aparna (Chhuti) and my friends on the Facebook who thought that she was the courageous one and that Saurav was a coward. But you know what? It takes a lot of courage to go against the tide, when the entire world is appearing to protest and you are not. There is not much need of courage in going with the tide and showing yourself off as cool.  Also some of the authors like Chetan Bhagat etc. have come out openly in opposing the CAA. Again, perfectly understandable, if they do not do this, they lose all opportunities of lecturing, getting awards and recognitions and felicitations. For instance Chetan will never get a call from IIMA again if he does not oppose CAA, as the ecosystem controls all Indian elite institutions. After all, who wants to get branded as a Sanghi, Islamophobe or Nazi? That author will immediately be ostracized by the established intellectuals who are mostly elite leftists, as was experienced by Bibek Debroy. So this part of the prophecy is clearly applicable to the present age. That man, who some people called as Bhagwanji, some as Mahakal, and later the media as Gumnami baba, was eerily and uncannily predicting the situation of the country 50 years down the line in the book Oi Mahamanab Ase.
Now coming back to the second part of his prophecy – He said that the leftists will then battle amongst themselves and gradually the whole of leftist ecosystem will crumble across the globe. How that will happen and when that will happen, he did not specify. But if indications are true, that day will not be far away. How will that come into picture? When their own interests are under attack. With Hong Kong burning and South America in totters, with the Arab league beleaguered by increasing rebellious activities, with Syrian crisis growing out of proportion day by day, with Taliban emerging as the winner, with US withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, with China becoming increasingly desperate with a huge capacity surplus and less global demand, with the king of the terror states going bankrupt very soon, with corruption and nepotism rocking the ecosystem and with contentions brewing within academia and intellectual circle on the right kind of issues to fight against – we can already see the dawn of that day. Their sponsors are running for covers and soon there will be a pitched battle for the meagre resources that are thrown their way to fuel protests. Moreover their communal allies of today may turn upon them tomorrow, as we saw in the aftermath of the Khilafat Movement. So willy nilly, we are on the track of seeing the fulfillment of the second part of the prophecy.
There is a third part of the prophecy as well. But I’ll keep it close to my heart and will fervently hope and pray for the same.
