Blind Hatred - Undoing of the Nationhood

If we carefully study the history of India in the last millennium, we shall see that its a continuous history of backbiting, treachery and undoing of good work through personal hatred, animosity, jealousy and extreme selfishness that would often overshadow national and community interests. Every stroke of misfortune that India suffered had been on account of one of these reasons. Great men rose into prominence, great, self sacrificing men who were ready to do everything possible to resist evils in the form of conquests, but petty, mean, selfish men became their thorns, did everything to put a stop to their efforts and in the process helped India sink deeper and deeper into darkness. Blind hatred caused many problems - it invited enemies to attack the country, opened up great possibilities for its conquests and plunder and helped hatred mongers to come on a common platform to deliver a crushing blow to the object of the hate. In many cases such hatred was driven by communal passion, in some cases personal preferences, in other cases corruption and personal gains. British realized this side of India too quickly and took full advantage of it. In fact the entire British rule could be cemented on account of this characteristic nature of Indians. Swami Vivekananda diagnosed this  problem to the root cause of jealousy. He knew better because he himself was a victim. The blind hatred led to many setbacks and betrayals during the freedom movement. A lot of great freedom fighters had to suffer on account of personal animosity and backbiting. Subhas Chandra Bose was an object of hatred among a section of the Congress, esp. those so called followers of Gandhiji and whatever he did caused displeasure to that section, ultimately leading to his humiliation in the Tripuri Congress. Blind hatred caused assassination of Gandhi, led to the fruition of the monstrous two nation theory, led to the formation of caste based politics, led to communal passion and slaughter of millions of hapless fellow Indians.
Blind hatred sees no reason. It is based on one principle - I need my object of hate to be removed, at all cost, let the nation go to hell, who cares. If  the nation gains when the object of hate gains, the nation should better lose.
Sounds a familiar narrative this days? This is where politics has arrived today, no thanks to a set of politicians and their cronies who have mastered that art of hatred over generations.
But this is a dire warning bell for the nation and the nation lovers! Do we want to relive the experience of our forefathers? Do we want to experience the humiliation of being subjugated, of being despised, of being the object of derision and contempt by other nation states?
In all other nations, this self goal inflicting mentality is absent. Whatever be the rivalry among the leaders and law makers, the competitors remain professional and do not break the boundaries of courtesy. Certainly they do not attack the leadership during times of crisis. They are together as a nation to their enemies and do not provide ammunition to their enemies to attack their nation state with falsehoods. However the blind haters in our country have stooped to that level of meanness wherefrom there is no return. They have no concern for the country. They want raw power and their object of hatred is centred around how to get the thorns out of their way to grab that power. The false narratives overlook the goods, the achievements. They have lost the ability to feel pride in our accomplishments as a nation, they think that by taking credits for everything should be the sole objective of every endeavor, that there is no selfless sacrifice for them - its always the duty of others to sacrifice for them.

And worse, these same fellows will crib that there is no democracy, no freedom to criticize, that they are being branded as anti nationals if they criticize ...blah blah blah. Well, it may sound a news to you, but you are having enough space to spew venom after venom in open forums, let alone criticizing. The irony is not lost. These same fellows, when they come to power, try every means to throttle all criticisms and protests and the same followers of them who had bemoaned the lack of freedom heartily support them by inventing one rationale after another.
Truth and Love for the Nation are the biggest casualties.
