Ode to President Kalam

I dont like politics. And I dont like politicians. Infact its an understatement, actually I hate Indian politicians -most of them, barring a few good men. My disdain for Indian politics and politicians was even greater when one of the great leaders and visioneries of our time had to bow out humbly from office. Unscrupulous political parties (a set of most regressive and arrogant antinational bunch, calling themselves UPA, a set of utterly confused and self destructive group called NDA, and a gang of thugs calling themselves UNPA) had always their own interest before the interest of the country. And even though some of them requested Kalam to stay back and fight, it was more to serve their own interest than country's. Kalam is most sought after by middle class Indians, as he is an icon - of educated enlightened mind, of simplicity, of remarkable intellect and intelligence, of compassion and kindness, of being a visionery, in stark contrast to political leaders who are - 1. myopic 2. absorbed in selfish interest and motives and do not care if the country goes to dogs.. all they do care about are their own kins, their money, power, special interest groups who serve them, and votes, 3. mostly uneducated and mostly from criminal backgrounds. What Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam has achieved? He has dared us to dream, of a better life, of reaping the full benefit of our potential, of getting the inspiration to come out of our cocoons and strive to achieve new heights. His contribution to India as a scientist is exemplary. His contribution as a statesman is even greater. His unorthodox ways, modesty, and personal integrity is to be emulated by all. As a leader he has always shunned the path of blatant display of power, unlike most of our politicians who block the road for common men for their own convoys to pass. Kalam is also an icon of secularism. A devout Muslim who is as much learned in Koran as Bhagvat Geeta, has never encouraged fundamentalism, was always a philosopher above everything else. In short, president Dr. Kalam was acceptable by all sections of Indian populace, except politicians. This time, unscrupulous politicians won. They have very successfully put in place a candidate on the path of winning the presidency and assuming Dr. Kalam's office. The candidate has serious charges against her - shielding a murderer, fraudulent transactions, nepotism...well.. lets see, whats the wheel of fortune has in its store... In the end, I am sure, good will triumph over evil.
